Hello and welcome back to the IDPGuru.com’s most popular in-season article, IDP Waiver Wire Pickups, which will be releasing every Tuesday of the regular season.
Although I’m happy to answer questions posted via the website comments section, IDP Forum, and email, I’m often quickest to respond via Twitter. So if you have IDP questions, it’s a good idea to Follow me on Twitter.
Let’s start things off by going through some IDP news, notes, and commentary from Week 11 of the NFL season.
Injuries
Dee Ford left the 49ers game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return. We should have a better understanding of his status as we get deeper into the week.
Morgan Burnett tore his Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.
DB1 Tracy Walker re-injured his knee against the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon and did not return. Given he’s had a few issues with this injury this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if he misses some time.
Khari Willis suffered a concussion in last week’s game and has been ruled out for this Thursday’s contest against the Texans.
General Player Notes
Myles Garrett is suspended indefinitely after ripping off Mason Rudolph’s helmet and striking him over the head with it. He will miss the remainder of the season and could miss 2020 games to boot. Larry Ogunjobi was suspended a game as well for pushing Mason Rudolph down during his altercation with Myles Garrett.
Rookie Germaine Pratt got the start on the inside for the Bengals but only played 69% of the defensive snaps. He remains a player to monitor closely in the coming weeks and is someone that should be stashed in dynasty formats as he should be well set up for a nice fantasy season come 2020.
Now onto The Guru’s IDP waiver wire selections for Week 12!
Defensive Linemen
(Previously recommended DLs: Sam Hubbard, Nick Bosa, Quinton Jefferson, Denico Autry, Chase Winovich, Robert Quinn, Brian Burns, Stephon Tuitt, Josh Allen, Robert Quinn, Ezekiel Ansah, Vic Beasley, Takkarist McKinley, Nick Bosa, Robert Quinn, Matt Ioannidis, Mario Addison, Jarran Reed, Jerry Hughes, Jarran Reed, Taco Charlton, Jabaal Sheard, Jeffery Simmons, Jason Pierre-Paul, DeMarcus Walker, Jason Pierre-Paul, Bruce Irvin, Yannick Ngakoue, Frank Clark, Jabaal Sheard, Leonard Williams, Clelin Ferrell, Derek Wolfe, Jordan Phillips)
DE Maxx Crosby (OAK) – Crosby, a fourth round selection in this year’s draft, was a bit overshadowed by fellow rookie teammate Clelin Ferrell coming into the season. But the former has outproduced the later and is coming off a monster four sack performance against the Bengals, making it his second straight game with at least 0.5 sack or more. He gets one of fantasy’s best matchups in the Jets in Week 12 and is a solid bet to move his sack streak to three straight games.
DT Jarran Reed (SEA) – Reed was a top 20ish fantasy DL last year but a six-game suspension to begin the season followed by a couple unproductive games have caused him to fall off the vast majority of owners’ radars. This said, his stat lines over his last two games have been quite good (5-0, 1-3-1.5, 1 FF, 1 PD) and he has a top five matchup against the Eagles this week. Consider him a nice mid-range DL3.
DE Chad Thomas (CLE) – Thomas, a third round selection in last year’s draft, didn’t see a ton of snaps earlier in the year, but an injury to Olivier Vernon has forced the second-year player into the starting lineup where’s he seeing significant playing time. Over this span, he’s compiled stat lines of 2-0-1 and 3-0-1. With Myles Garrett suspended for the remainder of the season, Thomas should continue to see a high amount of action and makes for a very nice play this week against a Dolphins team that gives up a ton of sacks to opposing defensive ends.
Linebackers
(Previously recommended LBs: Jordan Hicks, Shaq Thompson, Josey Jewell, Kyzir White, Blake Cashman, Zach Cunningham, Quincy Williams, Mark Barron, Kevin Minter, Anthony Walker, Bobby Okereke, Shaq Barrett, Mack Wilson, Ryan Connelly, Todd Davis, Devondre Campbell, Nicholas Morrow, Nick Kwiatkoski, Vince Williams, A.J. Johnson, Ben Niemann, Troy Reeder, Rashaan Evans, Wesley Woodyard, A.J. Johnson, David Mayo, Nate Gerry, Najee Goode, Bernardrick McKinney, Lorenzo Alexander, Blake Cashman, Rashaan Evans, Blake Cashman, Austin Calitro, Sean Lee, Wesley Woodyard, Brandon Copeland, Nick Kwiatkoski, Jerome Baker, Drue Tranquill)
ILB Fred Warner (SF) – Since Kwon Alexander went down with a season-ending pectoral injury in Week 9, Warner has been on quite the tackling spree. In those three games, he’s put up stat lines of 4-5, 9-1-2 1 FF, 9-3. There’s not a lot of tackle competition for Warner, so he has a good chance to maintain LB2- status for the rest of the season. Additionally, Dre Greenlaw has seen a fairly significant bump in production since Alexander’s injury, so he makes for a low-end LB3 in most weeks.
ILB Neville Hewitt (NYJ) – Hewitt returned to the starting lineup after a four week absence due to injury. He picked up where he left off with 5 total tackles (3 solo) and an interception. With the Jets defense seeing a lot of field time and very little tackle competition within the front seven, Hewitt should hold LB3+/LB2- value. He faces the power run offense of the Raiders this week who have been a superb matchup for inside linebackers, so this Sunday could very well be one of his better performances of the year.
OLB Clay Matthews (LAR) – Matthews’ name doesn’t carry quite the same panache as it once did in fantasy circles and missing a month with a broken jar has further lowered his ownership levels. But when you look at his game logs, he’s actually had at least one sack in six of seven games this season. He faces off against the Ravens this week who give up the third most points to edge rushing OLBs. This makes him a nice start for those in big play scoring formats.
Defensive Backs
(Previously recommended DBs: Juan Thornhill, Jordan Whitehead, Xavier Woods, Ronnie Harrison, Terrell Edmunds, Tracy Walker, Darnell Savage, Kemal Ishmael, Roderick Teamer, Tre Flowers, Reshad Jones, Khari Willis, Dre Kirkpatrick, Eric Weddle, Isaiah Oliver, Eric Reid, Byron Murphy, Maurice Canady, Jermaine Whitehead, Taylor Rapp, Marquise Blair, Ken Crawley, Morgan Burnett, Darnell Savage, DeAndre Baker, Taylor Rapp, Tavon Wilson, Patrick Peterson, Erik Harris, Morgan Burnett, Khari Willis)
S Reshad Jones (MIA) – Jones has been on and off the field this season due to injury, but seems to be healthy again. His stat line wasn’t overly compelling last week but he only played about 2/3 of the defensive snaps. With a full week of play under his belt, I would expect his snap counts to be back near to full-time and his production should rise back to the DB2 level as a result.
CB Kenny Moore (IND) – Moore has been on a fantasy hot streak over the last handful of weeks, scoring points in a multitude of ways – strong tackle numbers, a sack, interception, a fumble recovery, etc. He has a favorable matchup against the Texans this week and should hold DB3-DB3+ value.
FS Adrian Amos (GB) – Amos has somewhat underperformed his ADP this year, but he goes up against the 49ers who are giving up tackles to opposing safeties by the boatloads this year. So if there was ever a week to start the five-year veteran, it’s this week. I’m projecting a stat line of 6-2.
