2011 IDP Stockwatch: Week 10
Hello and welcome to this season-long series for IDPGuru.com. In this article, I will discuss a few players whose fantasy value has either gone up or down depending on their performance, role changes, injury concerns, etc. from the previous week. I will try to get this article out every Tuesday for your reading pleasure.
Stock Up
FS – Antoine Bethea – (IND) – The generous Colt score keeper has Bethea racking up the tackles. It’s no coincidence Bethea is ranked 5th in total tackles and 5th in assisted tackles. (Pat Angerer is ranked 1stin both) Bethea has 36 tackles in his last four games. DB1-
DT – Marcell Dareus – (BUF) – 17 tackles and 3.5 sacks in his last four games. The loss of Kyle Williams seems to have bumped Dareus’s work load up and he is producing. He is living up to his 3rd overall pick status and may even improve on his numbers when the colder weather hits and teams turn to the run more often. DL3
LOLB – Brooks Reed – (HOU) – A few weeks ago, he was in the Stockwatch up section because he was filling in for the injured Mario Williams. This week he is here because of his beastliness (not sure if it’s a real word). Reed has 19 tackles, 4 sacks, and a pass defended in his last four games. Houston should have a ridiculous LB corp. next season with Reed, Williams, Cushing, and a healthy Ryans. LB2-
RILB – Kevin Burnett – (MIA) – Burnett has finally started to play like Miami thought he would when they signed him this year. He has 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks in his last two games. 33 tackles in his last four games. He must show some consistency and keep this momentum up. LB3
Stock Down
RDE – John Abraham – (ATL) – Abraham’s 6 tackles and 1 sack in his last four games has him moving down this week. He only has 13 total tackles and 3 sacks on the season. This will not be his best year. DL3
LOLB – Jamaal Westerman – (NYJ) – Westerman had a great two game stretch in weeks 4 and 5, totaling 10 tackles and 2 sacks. Since though, he has put up a pedestrian 3 tackles and 0.5 sacks. He has slid down this week and may not be worth a roster spot in, unless in deeper leagues. LB4
RILB – DeMeco Ryans – (HOU) – Ryans has had a disappointing season by his standards. He may not be fully recovered from last year’s leg injury. He has not been on the field as much and it has shown in the stat column. If his 14 tackles in Houston’s last four games aren’t proof enough, he only has 31 tackles in 9 games this year. If you’re in a keeper league he should have some good value next year when his leg is back to 100%. LB4
LDT – Albert Haynesworth – (TB) – Haynesworth seems to have blown a perfect opportunity in New England. As a Patriots fan, I really was excited when he came here, thinking the best would happen and he would return to his Tennessee Titan form. Nope. Not even close. So our loss is Tampa Bay’s, loss. Haynesworth should only play in a back up role unless another injury happens to the Buc’s defensive line. DL5
MLB – Barrett Ruud – (TEN) – Ruud has been up and down all season. We started to believe he found his way again when he put up 20 tackles in two games. Ruud unfortunately followed those up with 8 tackles in two games. He is inconsistent and should be played only in favorable match-ups. LB3
