2022 IDP Redraft Rankings – Cornerbacks

Listed below is a sample of my 2022 Cornerback Rankings for IDP Redraft Leagues. I will periodically update these throughout the off-season to reflect changes in free agency, defensive schemes, playing time, draft selections, etc. However, keep in mind that the information listed here is just a small sample of a much larger set of rankings and descriptions that are accessible through purchasing my 2022 IDP Fantasy Football Draft GuideOr get access to both my draft guide and all of my premium in-season content by signing up for the Gold Package

Drafting Philosophy:
It’s difficult to find cornerbacks that are consistent year-to-year producers as their opportunity is often reliant on how often quarterbacks throw the ball their direction, along with their role in the defensive scheme. To help find value, many owners leverage the “rookie corner rule” strategy which targets first year players at the position. Since these players typically get thrown at early and often, they tend to see above average point scoring opportunity. Another, albeit less effective, strategy is to seek out players on winning teams. These types of teams typically have leads over their opponents and therefore see a high amount of pass attempts as opposing teams play catch up.

Scoring System:
Solo Tackle = 1.5 points
Assist = 0.75 points
Sack = 4 points
Interception = 5 points
Forced Fumble = 4 points
Fumble Recovery = 4 points
Pass Deflection = 1.5 point
Defensive TD = 6 points

DB13 Kenny Moore II IND (14), +0 vs. ECR
Leading up to the 2021 season, Moore had been a reliable low-end CB1/high-end CB2, but he took his game to another level last year. He posted 100+ total tackles (82 solo) and four interceptions to go along with 13 pass deflections. This was good enough to place him as a top 5 fantasy DB in most scoring systems. Cornerbacks have the most year-to-year vocality of any IDP position, so it’s hard to bank on that exact performance or better this year, but Moore should be the first corner off the board in drafts and it’s reasonable to expect another top 10-15 overall finish from him at the position.

DB18 Logan Ryan TB (11), +1 vs. ECR
Ryan has been a favorite/”go to” IDP of mine for years. For whatever reason, he’s typically undervalued but he’s a scrappy player that always finds a way to produce for managers regardless of position, scheme, or team. So the move to Tampa Bay doesn’t turn me off.

DB33 Marlon Humphrey BAL (10), +9 vs. ECR
Humphrey was fantasy’s top cornerback in 2020 compiling an impressive 70 solo tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a ridiculous 8 forced fumbles. He struggled with injuries in 2021 which caused him to miss four games but even prior to injury, he failed to rack up big plays like he’d done the year prior. Given the tumultuousness of this position, I’m willing to take a chance that Humphrey can get somewhere close to his 2020 levels again now that he’s fully healthy.

DB34 Jalen Ramsey LAR (7), +11 vs. ECR
The move to the “Star” position last year allowed Ramsey to more freely roam the defense and helped him to a career year in terms of production and a top 20 DB finish. He generated a decent amount of tackles for a cornerback (including a league-leading 9 TFLs for a DB) and chipped in 3 interceptions and 15 pass deflections. He should remain a solid CB2+/CB1- in 2022.

DB35 Trevon Diggs DAL (9), -7 vs. ECR (AVOID)
Diggs was fantasy’s top cornerback in 2021 carried by his amazing 11 interceptions. He’ll obviously have a very difficult time coming anywhere close to that production again and he’s not a strong enough run defender for me to use the draft capital required to get him currently in fantasy drafts. I’d let others chance his 2021 stats.

DB39 L’Jarius Sneed KC (8), +5 vs. ECR
Sneed took a step forward in his second season compiling 75+ total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 8 pass deflections across 15 games. He’ll continue to man the slot which has become the most productive cornerback position in recent years. At just 25 years old, Sneed has untapped potential, making him a solid CB2+ selection with upside.
