IDPs to Target in 2025 Redraft Leagues

As we dive into training camp season, it’s the perfect time to identify which defensive players are flying under the radar in redraft formats. Below are several of my favorite IDP targets for 2025 – players I’m significantly higher on than the Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR) on FantasyPros.

These are just a few of the many player excerpts and rankings taken out of my 2025 IDP Fantasy Football Draft Guide which is available for purchase here.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN

Carl Granderson DE – NO (11), +7 vs. ECR
On paper, Granderson took a step back in 2024 from his 44/34/8 2023 campaign. However, his pressure frequency actually increased 25% YOY but his pressure to sack rate was cut in half. So he was just extremely unlucky last year. His consistently high pressure rates combined with upper tier snap counts make him a great DL3 target who has top 15 upside.

Laiatu Latu DE – IND (11), +7 vs. ECR
Latu was a highly productive and polished edge rusher coming out of college and likely would have been selected even higher than 15th overall in the 2024 draft if not for a serious neck injury that gave some teams pause. As with many rookie edge rushers, Latu’s snap counts were heavily restricted last year, playing in just over 50% of the defensive snaps. He performed very well with those limited snaps, earning a 72.1 pass rush grade from PFF and should be in line for a significant increase in snaps with Dayo Odeyingbo and his 745 snaps now in Chicago. He’s been drawing rave reviews so far in training camp and, if this all comes together as I expect, Latu should have no issues outperforming his current ADP.

LINEBACKERS

Daiyan Henley LB – LAC (12), +14 vs. ECR
Henley took a huge step forward in his second season, becoming the team’s sole every down linebacker and one of the top early-season waiver wire pickups on the defensive side of the ball. With another year under his belt in Jesse Minter’s system, I’m confident he can expand upon his 147 tackle season. His biggest drawback in 2024 was the lack of big plays with only 1 sack, 1 INT and no FFs or FRs. If he can build up his production in those areas, he has a strong chance to vault into the LB1 tier. He’s currently a great value with a lot of experts ranking him in the LB20-25 range.

Nate Landman LB – LAR (8), +9 vs. ECR
Landman has been spotted wearing the green dot in both OTAs and training camp and the team has been fairly effusive in their praise. Although this is a bit of a surprise, it makes sense on the surface given his familiarity with Raheem Morris’ defensive scheme from when he was in Atlanta. I worry his lack of coverage skills may hinder his ability to stay on the field in some passing situations, but the team doesn’t have many other great options and they rolled out guys like Troy Reeder in that capacity previously who had similar deficiencies, so Landman is definitely worth a flier here in a fantastic fantasy situation despite those concerns.

Mack Wilson Sr. LB – ARI (8), +29 vs. ECR
Somewhat surprisingly, Wilson has been wearing the green dot so far in training camp. This signals he will be the team’s sole, every-down linebacker. He’s never manned this position before in his seven-year career and the team brought in free agent Akeem Davis-Gaither who could pressure for that spot if Wilson falters. But right now, Wilson is poised for a high-volume role in a fantasy-friendly scheme. He’s currently going undrafted in virtually all leagues, making him one of the bigger IDP steals at this moment in time.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Jordan Battle S – CIN (10), +8 vs. ECR
Battle, a third-round selection out of Alabama in 2023, is a bit of an unproven commodity in the NFL. However, he was top 5 at the position in tackle rate in limited snaps last season (463) and with Vonn Bell now gone, he’s expected to step into a very box-heavy role under new Defensive Coordinator Al Golden. If he can maintain his historical tackle rate while essentially doubling his snaps, he has a great chance at reaching DB1 status. This makes him one of my top DB2/DB3 targets.

Jaden Hicks S – KC (10), +5 vs. ECR
Hicks flashed great promise as a rookie, reeling in 3 INTs and 5 PDs on just 330 snaps. With Justin Reid signing a big contract with the Saints in the offseason, Hicks will now be in line for a full-time role at strong safety. He makes for an appealing high upside DB3 target who is capable of being an above average contributor across multiple categories.
