IDPs to Target in 2024 Redraft Leagues

Listed below are some IDPs I recommend targeting in drafts as of August 13th. As you will see, I’ve ranked a lot of these players substantially higher versus other “expert consensus rankings” that are logged into the FantasyPros platform.

These are just a few of the many player excerpts and rankings taken out of my 2024 IDP Fantasy Football Draft Guide which is available for purchase here.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN

Josh Sweat DE – PHI (5), +4 vs. ECR
Despite just having 6.5 sacks last year, Sweat was top 7 at the position in terms of pressure rate and he saw a strong snap share of 71% across the season. With Haason Reddick gone, there will be some open pass-rushing opportunity and I expect Sweat’s sack totals to increase back closer to his 2022 total of 11.

LINEBACKERS

Jack Campbell LB – DET (5), +8 vs. ECR
Despite being the 18th overall pick last year (a very high selection for an off-the-ball linebacker), the Lions treated Campbell with kid’s gloves and limited his snaps (59%) despite the team not having a ton of standout options at the position. He did have some struggle spots as a rookie but that can largely be attributed to the team being forced to play him out of position on the strong side. He’s been back at his natural MLB position during training camp and has really impressed coaches with his development heading into his sophomore season. Although this hasn’t been officially stated, it seems like the team is ready to transfer over playcalling duties to Campbell from Anzalone in the relatively near future. It remains to be seen if that will happen in Week 1 or more in-season, but nevertheless, this is a make or break season for the DC Aaron Glenn, so I have to believe Campbell forces himself into the lead LB role sooner rather than later. At this point in drafts, I’m willing to start taking some calculated risks on players that will grow into their upside as the season wears on and Campbell fits that bill to a tee.

Tyrel Dodson LB – SEA (10), +11 vs. ECR
Coach Mike Macdonald said he expects newly-acquired Dodson to call the defensive plays for the Seahawks this season. If this turns out to be true, he should see some of the best tackle opportunity of any linebacker relative to his current ADP. For this reason, he’s shaping up to be one of my primary LB4/LB5 targets in drafts this year.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Jeremy Chinn S – WAS (14), +4 vs. ECR
Chinn broke out as a DB1 during his 2020 rookie season and followed that up with another top 20 finish in 2021. An injury derailed his 2022 season and the new coaching staff deprioritized his role in 2023, making him fantasy irrelevant in the process. Now with Washington, Chinn is well set up for a career revival. New Head Coach Dan Quinn loves to bring down a safety to help in run support and blitz the QB and Chinn is well-suited for that role. He’ll be a big DB2 target for me personally in drafts this year.
