2022 IDP Redraft Rankings – Defensive Tackles

Listed below is a sample of my 2022 Defensive Tackle Rankings for IDP Redraft Leagues. I will periodically update these throughout the off-season to reflect changes in free agency, defensive schemes, playing time, draft selections, etc. However, keep in mind that the information listed here is just a small sample of a much larger set of rankings and descriptions that are accessible through purchasing my 2022 IDP Fantasy Football Draft Guide. Pass Deflection = 1.5 point
Defensive TD = 6 points

1Aaron Donald LAR (7)
It’s amazing that Donald continues to produce at a DL1 level given the constant double and triple-teams he faces playing among the interior of the defensive line. He showed no signs of slowing down last year as he was third in total tackles among all defensive linemen and also generated 12.5 sacks. He doesn’t quite have the same ceiling as a true edge rusher but he’s one of the safest picks at the position and the obvious first IDP that should be taken in DT-required leagues.

2DeForest Buckner IND (14)
Buckner has averaged 65 total tackles and nine sacks a season over his six-year career. He’s a pretty reliable bet for 7-10 sacks with a 40/25 tackle line in 2022 which would place him firmly in the DL2+ realm.

3Jeffery Simmons TEN (6)
Simmons has gotten consistently better with each passing season and broke out in 2021 with a 43/12/8.5 stat line. Consider him a top five defensive tackle and someone you should feel comfortable slotting in as a low-end DL2/high-end DL3.

4Christian Wilkins MIA (11)
Wilkins, a fourth-year player out of Clemson, tied for the league lead in tackles at his position last year. This makes him a nice high floor DL3 option. However, he lacks the upside of others in this group due to his low expected sack production (his career high in the category is 4.5 set in 2021).

5Chris Jones KC (8)
I really thought the team’s decision to move Jones outside last year was going to pay off in spades for managers and that his sack production would dramatically increase. Although he started off the season hot with two sacks in Week 1, his production took a nosedive from there, registering just one sack across his next eight games. The team eventually moved him back to tackle where he began producing again and finished the year with a very respectable nine sacks. He remains one of the league’s more dominant interior players and could be had for a bit of a bargain this year given his tumultuous 2021 campaign.

6. Jonathan Allen WAS (14)
Allen has established himself as one of the league’s more dominant defensive tackles and a top 5-7 option at the position. He’s a strong tackle producer, and although his sack totals have varied year-to-year, he has upside in that category as well as evidenced by his nine QB takedowns in 2021.

7Quinnen Williams NYJ (10)
Williams has averaged a stat line of 33/19/6.5 over his last 30 games. That type of production lands him in the in DL3/DT1- tier.
