Hello and welcome everyone to this week’s installment of “IDP Game Notes” brought to you by IDP Guru staff writer, Johnny Davis. This column is quickly turning into one of the most comprehensive, all-encompassing IDP articles anywhere. And it’s free!
Jets @ Broncos
– Denver rookie SLB Von Miller (9 solo tackles-1 assist, forced fumble, 1.5 sacks, pass defensed) has put up good numbers, but in this game he showed he’s capable of a monster performance. WLB D.J. Williams (4-1) has been inconsistent. Fourth LB Wesley Woodyard (6-2, FF) inserted himself back in the conversation. After three straight high tackle games, CB Chris Harris (3-0) disappointed. DE Elvis Dumervil (2-1, 1.5 sacks) has gotten to the QB in the last three games.
– NYJ SS Eric Smith (4-1) has been putting up mediocre tackle numbers lately. DT Sione Pouha (6-1) has been making some fantasy noise. You could do worse than OLB Calvin Pace (3-1, FF, 1 sack). ILB David Harris (5-1) is good for a handful of tackles.
Bills @ Dolphins
– Miami ILB Karlos Dansby (4-0) had his hot streak end. ILB Kevin Burnett (2-1) also disappointed. SS Yeremiah Bell (3-1, int, 2 PD) continues to disappoint in the tackle column.
– With Buffalo SS George Wilson out with a neck injury, you might think Bryan Scott (4-1, PD) would step up, but instead it was rookie Da’Norris Searcy (9-2). Rookie DT Marcell Dareus (2-0) has cooled off. FS Jairus Byrd (5-0) was nothing special. ILB Nick Barnett (6-1, 1 sack) got back on track.
Jaguars @ Browns
– Cleveland MLB D’Qwell Jackson (7-2, PD) has been extremely reliable. SS Usama Young (6-4) filled in well for T.J. Ward. Rookie DT Phil Taylor (6-3) has been impressive. Rookie DE Jabaal Sheard (1-1, FF, 1 sack) continues to show promise.
– Jacksonville MLB Paul Posluszny (3-2, 1 sack) just isn’t tackling like we had hoped. SLB Daryl Smith (5-3) is good for five or more solo tackles. DE Jeremy Mincey (4-1) continues to show value. SS Dawan Landry (5-2, int, PD) has been pretty reliable.
Cowboys @ Redskins
– Dallas ILB Sean Lee (6-4) had his best performance since hurting his hand. FS Gerald Sensabaugh (7-2, fumble recovery, FF) hurt his foot. OLB Demarcus Ware (1-1, 1 sack) got yet another sack. CB Terence Newman (5-1, PD) has been making fantasy noise.
– Washington ILB London Fletcher (9-7, FF, 1 sack) has been as good as they come. ILB Perry Riley (5-6) had another good game. FS O.J. Atogwe (1-6, PD) returned from injury. SS LaRon Landry missed the game with the same Achilles injury that ended his 2010 season. With Landry out, you would think Reed Doughty (0-1) would step up, but instead it was rookie Dejon Gomes (6-8). CB Deangelo Hall (8-3) has shown some fantasy value. Rookie OLB Ryan Kerrigan (1-2, 1 sack) got another sack.
Panthers @ Lions
– Detroit MLB Stephen Tulloch (5-1, int, 2 PD) has put up good fantasy numbers the last few games. DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (3-1, 1 sack) returned to the stat sheet. WLB Deandre Levy (5-4, int, PD) continues to show value. DE Cliff Avril (3-1) is having a good season.
– Carolina SLB James Anderson (7-3, int, 2 PD) continues his studly ways. WLB Omar Gaither (2-3) hurt his knee. MLB Dan Connor was inactive with a shoulder injury. SS Charles Godfrey (3-5, int, 2 PD) will get you points somehow. DE Greg Hardy (1-3) hurt his ankle. Rookie DE Thomas Keiser (5-0, 2 sacks) made his presence known.
Bucs @ Packers
– Green Bay ILB Desmond Bishop (7-2) can’t be stopped. OLB Clay Matthews (2-0) has been a wildly inconsistent fantasy performer. FS Morgan Burnett (3-5) continues his mediocrity. SS Charlie Peprah (3-0, PD) hasn’t done much the last couple of games. CB Tramon Williams (7-2, 2 ints, 2 PD) has four interceptions in the last three games. CB Charles Woodson (3-0, 1 sack, PD) has scored well the last few games.
– Tampa Bay SS Sean Jones (7-1) had a good game, while FS Tanard Jackson was inactive with a hamstring injury. Rookie MLB Mason Foster (2-0) has lost his way. Rookie DE Adrian Clayborn (2-0, 1 sack) got another sack. SLB Quincy Black (7-1) had a good game.
Raiders @ Vikings
– Oakland SS Tyvon Branch (6-1) has been pretty consistent. MLB Rolando McClain (2-1, PD) has sputtered. DT Desmond Bryant (3-0, FF, 2 sacks) and DT Tommy Kelly (3-0, int, 2 sacks, 2 PD) have been making noise the last two games. SLB Kamerion Wimbley (2-2) cooled off after a hot streak.
– Minnesota DE Jared Allen (0-2) finally appeared human. We expected SLB Chad Greenway (7-8, 1 sack) to have good numbers, but MLB E.J. Henderson (7-2, 1 sack) doesn’t usually score this well.
Bengals @ Ravens
– Baltimore SS Bernard Pollard (7-2, 1 sack, PD) is building steam. With ILB Ray Lewis out with a foot injury, ILB Jameel McClain (8-1) stepped up. DT Haloti Ngata (0-1) is slowed by a quad injury. DE/OLB Terrell Suggs (3-2) has been quiet by his standards.
– Cincy DT Geno Atkins (4-2, 1 sack) has been racking up sacks pretty well. DT Domato Peko (5-0) and DE Frostee Rucker (4-0) are capable of good fantasy days. CB Pacman Jones (7-0) made his first defensive impact.
Seahawks @ Rams
– Seattle DE Chris Clemons (3-2, 2 FF, 3 sacks, PD) had an unbelievable game. MLB David Hawthorne (3-1, fumble recovery) had a down game. SS Kam Chancellor (4-0) has cooled off lately. WLB Leroy Hill (3-0, 1 sack) and FS Earl Thomas (4-0) both had unusually low tackle numbers.
– St. Louis MLB James Laurinaitis (13-0) put up a gaudy tackle number, but he also suffered a foot injury. DE Chris Long (2-0, 1 sack) has six sacks in the last four games. DE James Hall (3-0, 1 sack) gets a sack every other game. Rookie DE Robert Quinn (5-0, 1 sack) has been making noise lately. SS Darian Stewart (8-0, 1 sack) had his best game of the season. WLB Chris Chamberlain (4-0, int, PD) remains relevant. FS Quintin Mikell (4-2, FF, int, PD) was big-time.
Cardinals @ 49ers
– San Fran ILB Patrick Willis (6-1, FF, int, 3 PD) has been off the charts lately. ILB Navorro Bowman (3-0, fumble recovery, PD) couldn’t keep up in this game. FS Dashon Goldson (2-0, int, PD) looks funny punching a guy wearing a helmet. Rookie OLB Aldon Smith (1-1, 1 sack) got back to his sacking ways. SS Donte Whitner (2-1, fumble recovery, int, 2 PD) has been showing value lately.
– Arizona ILB Daryl Washington (5-0, int, PD) got an interception to make up for his lower-than-usual tackle number. ILB Paris Lenon (9-0) had his best game of the season.
Chargers @ Bears
– After luring us into thinking he was a reliable fantasy start, Chicago MLB Brian Urlacher (1-3) was worthless. SS Major Wright (2-1, int, PD) has an interception in three straight games. CB Charles Tillman (6-1, fumble recovery, FF) is having a great season.
– San Diego FS Eric Weddle (5-0) is a pretty inconsistent fantasy scorer. ILB Donald Butler (2-1) had a down game.
Titans @ Falcons
– Atlanta’s MLB Curtis Lofton (3-3, PD) and WLB Sean Weatherspoon (3-0) came up short of expectations. SS William Moore missed the game with a quad injury.
– Tennessee MLB Barrett Ruud (2-0) left the game with a groin injury, which gave rookie Colin McCarthy (10-0, FF) another chance to shine. SS Jordan Babineaux (6-0, PD) doesn’t care that Chris Hope (2-0) is healthy. CB Jason McCourty (6-1) keeps on tackling.
Eagles @ Giants
– After recording a whopping 18 solo tackles in his last two games, Philly SS Kurt Coleman (2-3) came back down to Earth. DE Trent Cole (2-2) has been fairly tame since returning from injury. MLB Jamar Chaney (4-2, int, 2 PD) is scoring pretty well. DE Jason Babin (3-0, FF 1 sack) got back on track.
– Here’s hoping you didn’t stake your fantasy team’s D-line hopes on NYG DE Justin Tuck (1-4) like I did. Meanwhile, DE Jason Pierre-Paul (3-1, 1 sacks) keeps putting up the numbers we had hoped Tuck would. SLB Mathias Kiwanuka (6-1) has been scoring well the last few weeks. Rookie CB Prince Amukamara (5-0, int, PD) had a successful debut. WLB Michael Boley was inactive with a hamstring injury.
Chiefs @ Patriots
– New England’s D has been decimated with injuries, with SS Pat Chung, MLB Brandon Spikes, and CB Devin McCourty all sitting out this game. WLB Jerod Mayo (7-4) had his best game since returning from an injury of his own. DE Andre Carter (3-4, .5 sack, PD) and DE Mark Anderson (2-2, 1.5 sacks) have successfully resurrected their careers. You have to give WR Julian Edelman (1-0, 72-yd punt return TD) some love for his work on the defensive side of the ball.
– Kansas City ILB Derrick Johnson (7-5, PD) keeps on tackling. With SS Jon McGraw inactive with a shoulder injury, Donald Washington (7-1) had a good game. OLB Tamba Hali (2-1, 1 sack) found his way to the QB again.
